Chlorinated polypropylene (CPP) is a kind of thermoplastic resin made by the modification of polypropylene by chlorination. It has the appearance of white amorphous solid, white or yellowish powder, yellow or yellowish particles. Chlorinated polypropylene is non-toxic and can be dissolved in halogenated hydrocarbons, toluene and other solvents. The melting point is 80-160 °C and the decomposition temperature is 70-160 °C, depending on the chlorine content. The products with low chlorine content begin to decompose slowly at above 40 °C and then rapidly at above 70 °C. In the coating (mainly compound ink) and binder industry has a wide range of applications.
Chlorinated polypropylene (CPP)
Because CPP has excellent adhesion to polypropylene surface, it also has good adhesion to polyethylene, paper, lead film and other materials, as well as its hardness, abrasion resistance, salt water resistance and aging resistance, therefore, it is widely used in printing ink, plastic and metal binder industries, especially in printing ink which is used to produce double PP film, PP film-paper, PP film-aluminum and other composite materials in packaging industry. In addition, it also has partial application in paint carrier and waterproof agent. Chlorinated polypropylene also has some applications in flame retardants due to the presence of chlorine atoms in its molecular chains.
